This original wooden case includes:
12 x Couvent des Jacobins - Saint Emilion 2014 750ml
Rated 90 by Robert Parker, the 2014 Couvent des Jacobins is a much more harmonious bouquet compared to the Clos des Jacobins (I wonder how many get the two confused!). Here there is attractive red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, the oak neatly integrated and retaining fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry: black cherries, cassis and a hint of licorice. There is certainly good density in the mouth and the finish feels solid yet not imposing, allowing attractive sous-bois and cedar notes to flourish on the aftertaste.
It was built in 1389 and is now the tasting room of the estate. The vineyard spreads over 10.7 hectares with three grape varieties : merlot, cabernet franc and petit-verdot since 2010. The average age of the vineyard is about 40 years. The vineyard is organic-farming certified by ECOCERT France since September 2020. To produce the wine of Couvent des Jacobins, vinification takes place in traditional, temperature controlled, cement tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a combination of French oak barrels for a portion of the wine and remainder occurs in vat. The wine is aged in an average of 50% new, French oak barrels for between 12 to 15 months prior to bottling.
